In the background of unsuccessful childbirth, endocrine problems are common, including thyroid diseases. Thyroid malformation is a very common condition in our country. This tiny organ can also cause infertilityIn Hungary the population is approx. 10-15 percent affected thyroid disease, and three-quarters of patients are women. Thyroid disorders often do not occur with any symptoms, so we may not know for a long time that we may have problems with our thyroid. However, proper thyroid hormone function has a negative effect. Unfortunately, it often happens that it is only after the abortion that this tiny organ causes the tragedy.
What Is The Thyroid Gland?Thyroid hormones affect almost all of our body's functioning: among other things, this organ regulates the function of the endocrine system, including fertility. If thyroid function increases, then we talk about overactivity, hyperthyroidism, while reduced function of thyroid gland is caused by hypothyroidism. Underactive thyroid gland:
- inhibits normal ovulation (which is a prerequisite for the creation of an expectation)
- lowers progesterone (in this case, the mucous membrane cannot thicken properly, and so the prospective baby cannot properly adhere to the uterus)
- raises prolactin levels (this can inhibit the production of LH and FSH hormones, which can lead to follicular failure)
What is happening?Thyroid dysfunction can be caused by rheumatoid arthritis, but the most common cause of the disease is Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In addition, previous isotope or surgical treatment may cause thyroid dysfunction.
What Are The Symptoms Of Underactive Thyroid Gland?Menstrual complaints (irregular or severe bleeding, or if you have a second phase of your cycle), hair loss and fatigue, eyelid swelling, high cholesterol, increased weight, urticaria; but even depression and low heart rate may indicate reduced functioning.
Can be treated healingThyroid can be remedied with drug therapy. If your thyroid gland was already known to your mother prior to the planned birth, then there is no obstacle to the conception.
Who should pay attention to thyroid? It is important to check your thyroid function in case of recurrent abnormalities or infertility. Because thyroid disease plays an important role in the development of thyroid disease, so if anyone has a family history of this disease, it is also worth screening for it before the planned time of conception.Related articles in Thyroid Disease:
